Abdominal pain is pain which is occurring between the chest and pelvic regions. This pain can be sharp, intermittent, dull, achy or cramp. Also this condition is known as stomachache. Disease or inflammation that can affect the organs in your abdomen can cause you abdominal pain. The major organs which are located in the abdomen are including: pancreas, liver, gallbladder, stomach, spleen, appendix (which is a part of the large intestines), kidneys and intestines (in which are included small and large intestines). Parasitic, bacterial or viral infections can affect the stomach and intestines which can also cause significant abdominal pain. There are many conditions which can lead to abdominal pain such as intestinal disorders, obstruction, inflammation, abnormal growths and infection. Infections in your blood, intestines and throat can cause bacteria to enter your digestive tract which is also resulting in abdominal pain. These infections can also cause changes in digestion such as constipation or diarrhea. Cramps abdominal pain which are associated with menstruation are also a potential source of lower abdominal pain but in the most cases menstrual cramps are a reason for pelvic pain. Also there are other common causes of abdominal pain such as stress, vomiting, acid reflux, gastroenteritis, diarrhea and constipation.
